2012 is going to be a large year for the UK. There’s obviously the Olympic Games which is going to be taking place in the summer, and prior to that we’ve got the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It was originally set to happen on the Whitsun Bank Holiday, however it definitely will now get postponed up until the first Monday in June. This is because there’ll be a four day bank holiday granted to the whole of the country, that many people will be thankful for. There’s a lot of pros and cons to this though, of course there’s the fact that it’s going to have an impact on several businesses as they wouldn’t have been planning to offer the additional day off however it will certainly be accepted by staff.

One thing this means is you might have an additional day or two on your holidays. You might have booked a city break to somewhere like London with your family, or maybe you’re more of a winter sun person? If you are then you might have booked one or two short ski holidays close to this time. If you have than the news will probably be welcomed by you and your families as it means you get an extra day off of work to either recover from your holiday in time for work, or take an extra day off and spend that little extra time on your holidays with your family!

There’s no doubt gonna be lots of travel news on the radio and television during this time period, and those that will be in the big cities who are travelling to different places in the country could find that traffic comes to a standstill. This seems to happen at places like The Lake District, so if you’re thinking about heading up there then you should look at heading off as soon as possible in order to avoid any kind of disappointment!
